MHEF Making the Connections

SEVENTH GRADE PINKSTON MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS
HANDS-ON ENGINEERING PROJECT
UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT FAYETTEVILLE

"Seventh Grade Pinkston Middle School students started on a recent Monday morning touring  Arkansas State University at Mountain Home.  After walking that campus (receiving a cookie treat and a backpack), they traveled to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, ate in the Quad dining hall, toured the campus and ended up at the Bell Engineering building where they worked on a hands-on engineering project.  After completing their automotive  designs from random props, they began their trip home stopping at  North Arkansas Community College in Harrison for a quick tour.

The students had a wonderful day asking questions about post- secondary
education life, talking to college student leaders, and enjoying campus
walks.

SEVENTH GRADE PROMISE STUDENTS AND BUSINESS PARTNERS DISCUSS CAREER AND EDUCATIONAL PLANS

One of our future teachers grants will sponsor the Pinkston Promise Speakers Series.  On May 22, 2014, one of the MHEF volunteers, Cathy Sullivant, furnished lunch for 7th grade Promise students and business partners to eat and discuss future career and educational plans.

Thank you, Cathy, and thank all of you for the support you give our students.
