Matthew Wise (Class of 2009)

A recipient of the Dunbar Scholarship, Matthew Wise graduated from Mountain Home High School in 2009 with a passion for the arts and a drive to make a meaningful impact. He continued his education at Southern Arkansas University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a minor in English. He went on to complete a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary before teaching theatre in both Texas and New York City.

Today, Matthew is back home in Arkansas, pouring his experience, creativity, and heart into the next generation. Now in his second year as the Theatre Teacher at MHHS, he lives in Mountain Home with his wife, Kaylee, and their son, Ozro—a little Bomber himself. Matthew will achieve another milestone when he graduates from SAU with his Master of Arts in Teaching in December 2025.

Looking back, Matthew credits his community for opening doors. “I am incredibly thankful for the unique opportunities I was afforded at MHHS that allowed me to pursue my passions fully,” he shares. “This led to me receiving a full ride to college (outside of purely academic scholarships), which set me up for future success.”

His story is a testament to what happens when talent and passion meet opportunity, and how community can support a lifelong journey of learning, teaching, and giving back.
